Just 3 Minutes Of Aerobics

In today's hectic environment many just have no time for exercise.  Between work-time, commute-time, family- time and 'going out'- time, there is no time left.  For those who get no aerobics, or intermittent aerobics, think about the following:

If you got up every morning and ran around a high school track, would you be in better shape than if you did nothing?  Within two weeks you would be in much better shape!

A high school track is a quarter of a mile long, that is five city blocks.  It takes four minutes to walk five city blocks, and under two to jog it!  Thus a three minute in house energetic jog, in the apartment before the morning shower (heart rate target approx. 150, conversationally short of breath) is the equivalent of a jog around the high school track.

A three-minute energetic workout before the morning shower takes three minutes!

This is not marathon conditioning, but if you do three energetic minutes every am for thirty years, when you are sixty or seventy, you are at least in the game!!

Jumping jacks, stationary bike, rowing machine, nordic track, jumping rope, running in place, etc.  Whatever gets you huffing and puffing.

If that's too much for you, start at 30 seconds per day for the first week, graduate to a minute, the second week, and gradually get to three minutes per day.  Obviously check with us first, maybe a stress test is in order first.

And realize that this is adequate, but not optimal.  Once you are comfortable with three minutes, then you could join the gym, really exercise.  We all drift in and out of programs, but instead of going back to zero when you drift out of routine, stick with the three minute/day guarantee.  Every morning, unless suffering from serious sickness!!
