Celebrities On A Bad Day. In this series of small portraits, I have tried to transform the tabloid photo into an Iconic/Classcial portrait, inspired by portraits by Holbein, Manet, Goya and many others.

However, the celebrity photos which I choose are those which capture a horrible moment, expression or angle of the celebrity involved. Some are beautiful people who happen to look awful like Mel Gibson or Diana Ross; some are people who NEVER have a good day, like Camilla Parker Bowles and Linda Tripp; and some are people so bizzare-looking that they simply MUST be captured on canvas, like Jocelyn Wildenstein and Michael Jackson.

These are definitely not caricatures - I am careful no to exaggerate the features, as the reality is sufficiently awful for my purpose.
