Gastroenterology Services

Dr. Bruce Yaffe, in addition to being a board-certified internist, is also a board-certified gastroenterologist, trained at Lenox Hill Hospital afrom 1980 to 1982 under the tutelage of Dr. Burton Korelitz, and Dr. Jerome Waye. Dr. Yaffe performs gastroscopies, flexible sigmoidoscopies, and colonoscopies in the office under conditions ranging from local anesthesia to heavy sedation with intravenous Demerol and Valium.

Dr. Yaffe is available for consultations in the office for digestive tract problems ranging from:

• Difficulty swallowing
• Reflux esophagitis
• Peptic ulcer disease
• Abdominal pain
• Gallbladder disease
• Liver diseases
• Pancreatic problems
• Diarrhea
• Bloating and gas
• Constipation
• Rectal bleeding
• Color cancer prevention
• Diagnosis and treatment of digestive tract cancers

Dr. Yaffe works in close cooperation with nutritionist Simona Badescu in recognition of the important interaction between diet and digestive tract function.
