Become A Reality At YaffeRuden

We are proud to announce that we are finally beginning to unveil our internally developed medical software that will enable our patients to really explain their aches, pains, fears, and issues in unedited detail!

Three years in the making, this software will not only result in better doctor-patient communication — in person, by phone and Internet — but also it will result in more efficient communications and more rapid lab turnaround time.  It will enable electronic prescribing, prescription formulary checks (to allow us to select comparable pharmaceuticals with the lowest co-pay), and drug interaction checks.  The software will allow referrals, medical instructions, and it will enable us to give you detailed personalized information for follow-up visits.  It will allow us to give you secure e-mail lab and procedure results, complete with personalized explanations.

There are two parts to the package:

  • The patient history information loader (PHIL) enables the patient to log in to a secure password-protected area on our website, where detailed patient history can be entered.  For a short office visit, you can spend a few minutes to organize your thoughts, complain in detail about your situation, and address your fears and concerns.  This can be done from home, or on the computers available in the waiting room.

More importantly, before you come in for a comprehensive exam (a physical), you will be asked to fill out a form that comprehensively looks at your genetics, your stresses, your issues, eating and exercise habits, and any other problems — large and small.  Filling out the form might take you fifteen minutes, or you might invest a few hours.  It only has to be done once per lifetime, and you have a very detailed Patient Healthcare Record (PHR) available to you anywhere, anytime.

You can update your PHR when changes occur in insurance or demographic information, prescription or supplement information. Family history changes, dietary, stress, and habit changes can similarly be updated.  As medical conditions evolve, you can update your medical diary in real time.  When you arrive in the office, we can pull up your PHR and import it directly into our GE Centricity Electronic Medical Record (EMR), one of the most sophisticated electronic charting modules available.  That information becomes an important part of a very detailed electronic record, with much better information than a physician could ever enter during an office visit.

Direct patient entry has been discussed for forty years, starting at the Mayo Clinic.  Yet it has never been accomplished at this level before.

Many in the healthcare system lament the scarcity of EMR's in private medical practice.  The cost of hardware, software, maintenance and support are significant. But the real cost is in the time it takes to enter the original data during the conversion process.  It would take an hour per patient to enter detailed data correctly in the office.  This is not economically feasible.  The data the doctors would enter would be superficial and patients would fail to get the full benefits of the EMR.

Our software is cross-platformable with most of the major EMR's in the marketplace including GE, Cerner, and WebMD.  Insurance companies, the federal government, doctors, and patients all benefit from a computerized EMR. Our software may provide the missing link towards a computerized healthcare system by decreasing conversion costs, and simultaneously providing more complete data.  We are in touch with several national organizations that are very interested in our work.

  • The second part our software package is the Electronic Medical Template Informer (EMTI).  When your visit is finished, we can provide you with detailed instructions, prescription information, referral information, and follow-up information.  We will download this back to your Patient Healthcare Record (PHR), along with lab results and explanations.

Between PHIL and EMTI, you will have a complete PHR, updateable and accessible 24/7.  There will be enhanced e-mail accessibility, and e-mail prescriptions.  A searchable database will enable us to notify patients about new therapies or pharmaceutical changes.

Please be patient and bear with us during this transition phase.  There are bugs to be worked out.  Hopefully the results will be beneficial to all, including in the long run, the overall efficiency of the US healthcare system.
