Learning to control the body's physical response through a comprehensive biofeedback
training, stress management and health counseling program.Clinical biofeedback / neurofeedback is an effective therapy in the treatment of a wide range of medical and
psychological disorders. Patients with medical and/or stress symptoms benefit greatly from understanding the physiologic stress response that is automatic when dealing
with medical and lifestyle changes and are able to gain greater control over their health.
Stress creates both psychological and physiological changes. Biofeedback increases our awareness of the ability to control
that part of the nervous system that we do not recognize as having such direct impact. Through biofeedback training, patients learn to use the physical /cognitive/behavioral
interaction as a comprehensive approach in controlling symptoms and contributing positively to their health.
- The National Institute of Health (NIH) has researched and endorsed biofeedback training for cardiovascular, gastrointestinal and respiratory disorders, anxiety and panic disorders, and pain and stress management.
Biofeedback monitors physical processes and provides a visual/auditory display that is used as a therapeutic tool in teaching control of these biological systems. It allows a
patient to gain a conceptual understanding of their physical response patterns and to develop the ability to effectively regulate them. Within 10 sessions most patients are able to
monitor and control their personal stress reactions which enables them to contribute to their physical well-being.
Biofeedback therapy is most appropriate when used as an
adjunct to medical management and is beneficial in treatment of the following conditions:
- Stress Related Medical Disorders - including gastrointestinal and cardiovascular
- Migraine and Muscle Tension Headaches
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Essential Hypertension
- Panic Disorder
- Sleep Disorder
- Phobias - including a specific fear of flying program

- Raynaud's Syndrome
- Addictive Disorders - including Muscle Spasm and TMJ, nicotine and alcohol
